WWII VET - "JUST BE THANKFUL FOR EVERYTHING WE ALL GOT"
Here's a nice video tribute to a Father put together by a WWII veteran's daughter.
Jack Holmes (1913-1991), who served as a tank commander in the 37th Tank Battalion, 4th Armored Division of General Patton's 3rd Army During World War II. His division participated in many battles in Europe, including the Relief of Bastogne (Battle of the Bulge). After entering Germany, they liberated Ohrdruf Concentration Camp, the first concentration camp to be liberated by Americans.
After returning to civilian life, he returned to his job at what is now Exxon, married, and raised a family. But he never forgot what he had seen during World War II. In 1984, he and my mother had the opportunity to visit Bastogne and the surrounding areas. He died in 1991 at the age of 78.
This video is also a tribute to all in the Greatest Generation who served in the Allied military forces that successfully defeated Nazi Germany. We who are living in freedom today owe these brave people a debt of gratitude that we can never repay.
